Optic Nerve Atrophy
Optic Nerve Atrophy is a permanent visual impairment caused by damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve is composed of nerve fibers. These fibers function like a cable carrying information from the eye to be processed by the brain. Each fiber carries a part of the visual information to the brain. If these nerve fibers become damaged, the brain does not receive all of this vision information and sight becomes blurred.
