Skill 2: Navigating Narrow Spaces and Doorways
When approaching a narrow area or doorway, move your forearm and hand to rest against the lower portion of your back, palm facing outward. This gives an indication to your traveling companion to step behind you.
The person being guiding should slide their hand down to their guide’s wrist and move directly behind the guide, at arm’s length.
Once you have passed safely through the narrow area, you should casually drop your arm back to its original position. This signals the traveler that the path has widened and he or she can walk beside you once again.
