When you meet again

At the beginning, it is always a good idea to mention your name again when you cross paths. For example, say “Hi Jim. This is Sally.” The same way it may take you a little while to remember all faces and names in your new job, people who are blind may have a hard time remembering your voice. In particular, your voice may sound different when they meet you in different environments –on the hallway, on the front lawn, or on the elevator.

Also, if you are conversing with someone who is blind and you need to step away, let him, or her, know you are leaving, especially when there is more than one person participating in the conversation, and they may not notice you left.
